Who we are

The Ghana Poetry Project is an international literary organization based in Ghana and the United States. GPP was founded in 2009 by Martin Egblewogbe and Laban Carrick Hill in direct response to the dire need promote a literary culture in Africa and around the world. By supporting a literary culture in this West African country, the Ghana Poetry Project advances the notion that a free exchange of ideas is essential to the health and prosperity of any community.

The Ghana Poetry Project is a charitable organization dedicated to helping Ghanaian writers explore and affirm their identity and culture. In order to achieve these goals, the Ghana Poetry Project is dedicated to reaching out to all Ghanaian writers. In the future, the Ghana Poetry Project will be offering readings, social gatherings, and writing workshops where writers can gather to share work and discuss craft.

The Ghana Poetry Project is in the process of getting its certification as a nonprofit corporation. All donations to the Ghana Poetry Project will be tax deductible once the certification is completed in late 2009.
